Meh, it’s good. I see lots of criticism of Nino. Yes, he’s a POS, but so is everyone else. They are all awful and yet somehow they maintain these toxic relationships. If you like soap operas with rape and domestic violence, here you go. 2 more of these left.

The Story of a New Name is the engagingly immersive story of the lives of Elena (Lenu) and Lila from ages about 16 to 23 in early to mid 1960’s Naples which started in My Brilliant Friend. Although a sequel which needs to be read as such, and not as cohesive as My Brilliant Friend, it tells the coming of age of the main characters and their friends well.
