This author wrote a semi-autobiographical novel about his descent into alcoholism and insanity and at the very end some acceptance of his problems with gorgeous prose but it rambles all over the place(but with exquisite words). He was not a man that many would like to be around. He was misogynistic and homophobic. Enjoyable parts of the book were his many literary references.
