Included in Harold Bloom's list of the Western Canon, In Praise of Folly needs no real review, other than perhaps to say that if you are intimidated by such classic works, as I often am, thinking they will be too difficult, then Moriae Encomium could be a very good place to begin. Depending on your knowledge of classical times and events of the late middle ages, you might prefer an annotated version for some of the details, but in the long run, Erasmus describes a world that looks little differe
