This is the only book by this author I've read, heard of it via a bookclub... Love the genre in concept, was a bit put off by the implementation.
Nick, the main character, had many strengths and weaknesses that didn't seem convincingly motivated by anything in his character, they were just written in. His combat tactics were mechanical and repetitive, but that wasn't as bad a thing as it sounds.
