First non-fiction I've read in a long time and I really enjoyed this book.
I've seen a few of Alan's movies and in reading his genealogical adventures, the experience was healing for him and his family. It was well-written, the chapters intertwined and separate.
He (and his brother and mother) survived a monstrous childhood and family life and lived to tell the story and tell it well. It had humor, intelligence, strength and flowed extremely well. Excellent read!

Wow. What a stunning book and the audio, read by Cumming himself, was amazing! Highly Highly recommended.

Alan Cumming is a favorite actor of mine who is out as bisexual and absolutely adorable. His memoir is about his relationship with his abusive father and the mystery of his grandfather, who went to war and never came home. It was readable, light, a bit horrifying in spots, sweet but not particularly deep or all that well written.

Read it in one sitting, couldn't put it down.
