A very quick read. It wasn't anything spectacular writing style, content wise, etc., but I really enjoyed it. It reminded me a lot of my adolescence and my relationship with my mother. I thought the book did a really good job at examining Sophia's and her mother's relationship, without really analyzing it (I don't know how to explain this...) I kept thinking to myself, that totally happened with me and my mom. A pleasant read that made me smile and think about all the times I went behind my moth

"What My Mother Doesn't Know" was the second book I've read written in verse. Originally, I wasn't entirely fond of the technique, but Sophie's story could not have been told more perfectly.
I really connected with Sophie while reading the novel, because she reminded me so much of myself at her age. At 15, Sophie convinces herself that she's in love with each boy that she dates. She seems so ready to grow up, even though she's barely in the midst of her teenage years, which is such a relatable st ...more

This book brought me back to memories of high school romances! I loved the voice of the main character, Soph. Her descriptions of her feelings, desires and thoughts were so how I thought (and sometimes still do think!) about romance and relationships. Through each romance I found myself pulling for her not to be hurt, for the boy not to be hurt and for her to come out wiser and more mature each time! I almost felt like she was my daughter!

“What My Mother Doesn’t Know” by Sonya Sones is a young adult novel about a high school teenager. The whole book is written in poems, but it’s not hard to follow and flows very well. This book defiantly takes you back to high school and shows how easy it is to fall in love. Then when you are in love you think that nothing else matters and that you will be with that boy forever, but then you realize that it doesn’t last long and here comes another boy into your life. You really get to know everyt

I hated this book! It's a rare thing for me to hate a book, but here we are. The story was a little engaging which made it bearable to follow through with just to see how it ended. My biggest complaint is that the voice and the majority of the language of the main character make her come across as younger than she is being portrayed as. As I read this book, I almost pictured her as a slightly older Clementine, but with the same level of education. Awful!

I really enjoyed this book. It took me back to my high school days and even middle school when we you thought every boy you liked you were "in love" with and your life would be over without them. I felt really scared about the online relationship she had formed but was happy that she was not hurt and everything was ok.
