Many of the horse books I read are categorized as young adult (and that’s the genre I write) and I haven’t run across many equestrian series that are written for adults AND also truly dive into the horse world. Carly Kade is a lifelong equestrian who rides and shows her beautiful paint mare (if you doubt me, checkout her pics on her website!) in western pleasure. When I read In the Reins by Carly Kade, I loved it. Her main character, Devon, was so relatable and so realistic. I kept thinking, “that sounds familiar”. So I was excited to read the sequel when Cowboy Away was being released, this time from McKennon Kelly’s broody viewpont. I was blown away. Somehow, his story and perspective sucked me in so that I was compelled to finish the book that day. And now, I’m lamenting because I need to know how Devon and McKennon's story continues in the third book

I loved this book! The beginning of the story had me hooked, and I enjoyed getting into McKennon's head this time around. This second story resolved some things for me, about McKennon's character and past, leading to me wanting to learn even more. The horse details were well written, and I enjoyed learning more about the western horse world. By halfway through the book, the pages practically turned themselves.
