What Members Thought

Oh Mr. Green you are quickly becoming a favorite author of mine.
I loved these characters, I became attached to them. I love Issac, I love Augustus, I loved what Hazel and him had. I love that it ended how I hoped it would. It was the right way to do it. As I was reading had a feeling how things were going to turn out, and when those things did happen. I bawled. I cried many times reading this book, but laughed much more.

I just loved this book. It's funny, smart, irreverent, poignant and thought-provoking. I know I'll be thinking about Hazel Grace and Augustus for a long time after finishing this book. That Augustus Waters. He really comes in and shakes up Hazel's nice and quiet life. May we all have an Augustus Waters come into our lives.
This is a "young adult" book that isn't watered down to appeal to teens. It's a well-written book that happens to feature teenagers. They are smart kids, maybe too smart becau ...more

What a great story. When you read a story where the two main protagonists have cancer, you figure you may run into some sad moments. But what I didn't expect was to read a book filled with such fun dialog (reminded me of the way they conversed on Gilmore Girls) and such touching moments. It was a story of a girl and a boy, but also a story of a girl and her family and I think that's one aspect of the story I fixated on and related to most. I loved the scenes between Hazel and her parents and how

Wow - what a good book! Such clever writing and from such an interesting perspective. I cried more than once while reading this.
16-year-old Hazel has terminal cancer and she meets a boy named Augustus (in remission) at a support group. They become friends and eventually boyfriend/girlfriend while each deals with illness and the loss of other friends to cancer. I love their interaction and their intelligence (no "Twilight" romance here) and I loved reading how their family life evolved around th ...more

This book is nothing short of an emotional roller coaster. I put off reading the book for so long for because I feared exposing myself to a, for lack of a better word, sobfest.
I've read many comments that say the characters sound wiser beyond their age, but I don't see it that way. Life experiences changes people, and being terminally ill teenagers who are faced with mortality, I believe becoming and sounding wiser is valid.
John Green did a great job on this book.. It is a must read.

This is my big ten. So says Hazel Grace.
This book make me feel like I was repeatedly stabbed and had involuntary jags of crying - all while on a plane. Great experience. Aside from the few HOURS of public humiliation of crying uncontrollable, (tip: read in the privacy of your own home, car, office) this is an amazing book.
