"life is not a PG feel-good movie. Real life ends badly"

unbelievably good.
I've made a deal with myself. If I find out a movie is based on a book before I see the movie, I need to read the book first.

And, with this one, I'm so glad I've read it. Mental stability and mental illness is a very tough topic to write. I've read books that have done it very wrong. I've read books that have come close

I've never read a book like this - that takes the hard look at something so tough and really makes it rea

I think I liked the writing style more than I liked the actual story. Matthew Quick is wonderful at establishing voice. His writing is clear, heart-felt and so vividly real. I liked the book for touching on what can sometimes be a taboo subject: mental illness. I read this book for the group The Perks of Being a Book Addict for May 2013.

This is the story of Pat as he struggles to find himself; he's just been released from a psychiatric hospital. Pat tries to be kind rather than right. There is a silver lining in each situation.

If you are expecting this to be like the movie showed the story, it is not the case. The movie was good, but did not follow the story as it ought too...like the case of most books turned into movies.

The story is about a man, Pat Peoples, who ends up finding out his wife was cheating on him. He went nu

I have not read a book that fast in a while. It is a well developed story if at times it took a little time to get to the point. But I really enjoyed the book being from the point of view of the person actully suffering the depression and the mental issues and its ending...
