What a great story. When you read a story where the two main protagonists have cancer, you figure you may run into some sad moments. But what I didn't expect was to read a book filled with such fun dialog (reminded me of the way they conversed on Gilmore Girls) and such touching moments. It was a story of a girl and a boy, but also a story of a girl and her family and I think that's one aspect of the story I fixated on and related to most. I loved the scenes between Hazel and her parents and how ...more

Hazel has cancer. She meets Gus at the cancer group. Hazel is obsessed with this one book she really likes and wants to know the answers about what happens after the book ends to the characters.

Gus decides to use his one dying wish on Hazel. They make a trip to see the author and ask him these questions. He is a bitter man. The author doesn't want nothing to do with anyone.

So Gus sets out to finish Hazel's wish by writing an ending for her. He sends it off to the author hoping that he will re-

Wow - what a good book! Such clever writing and from such an interesting perspective. I cried more than once while reading this.

16-year-old Hazel has terminal cancer and she meets a boy named Augustus (in remission) at a support group. They become friends and eventually boyfriend/girlfriend while each deals with illness and the loss of other friends to cancer. I love their interaction and their intelligence (no "Twilight" romance here) and I loved reading how their family life evolved around th

I laughed, cried and was so moved by this short but yet poignant novel! For those who haven't read, the main character is a teenage girl dying of terminal cancer. Instead of giving up on life, she uses her time left to find love and forever change the lives of her loved ones. I know there's a movie but take the time to read Green's novel as the written word takes the reader on a life-changing journey! ...more

This book is nothing short of an emotional roller coaster. I put off reading the book for so long for because I feared exposing myself to a, for lack of a better word, sobfest.

I've read many comments that say the characters sound wiser beyond their age, but I don't see it that way. Life experiences changes people, and being terminally ill teenagers who are faced with mortality, I believe becoming and sounding wiser is valid.

John Green did a great job on this book.. It is a must read.

I really liked this book. It was short and it was sad but totally worth it. "That's the thing about pain, it demands to be felt". ...more
