Strange, isn’t it? To love a book. When the words on the pages become so precious that they feel like part of your own history because they are.

3.5 stars.

There is a beautiful love of stories packed into this book. There's true love and the desire to find one's place and opportunities lost and found.

There's also a crazy amount of run-on sentences that drove me nuts. Honestly, at times I forgot where the sentence began.

Shelves: new-favourites, fantasy, magical-realism

This is one of those books that I wish would never end. I want to go and live in an underground harbour by the starless sea, surrounded by books, magic and mystery. I want to be friends with the characters and listen to all of their stories. I loved the way that all the stories intertwined beautifully and came together towards the end, with characters turning out to be not quite who they had seemed.

The writing was really beautiful. That is the only thing that kept me reading. The premise of this story was amassing!! A starless sea below the surface world that has books upon books!! But it just went nowhere and it was so boring!! I should have stopped reading this.
