She's loved two men, one who leaves her to go to collage and one who later winds up dead. She is convicted of the crime and it goes to court. What will the verdict be? You have to read the book to find out. And, there is a twist at the end that I didn't see coming.

I liked this book enough but it wasn't a great as the other reviews for me. I liked the themes of survival, hope, innocence, and perseverance. I really enjoyed the ending which made me round up on my rating. Despite it being very descriptive, I just had a really hard time picturing the swamp and the characters for some reason. This book was a little long for me too. ...more

Made me cry more than once but docked a star for the slow pace.
