The story itself is absolutely incredible, fascinating, inspirational and beautiful.... The writing and character development is what I really didn't like about this book... It has so much potential... Why ruin it with mediocre story telling... What a shame ...more

The Tattooist of Auschwitz is a fictionalized but true and very important story but it is hard to read (or in my case, listen to) because it is a gritty portrayal of a situation that is in many ways beyond words. Morris does a good job translating the story into something palatable and of course, critically important for everyone to read and remember, but it is not an easy book to read. Nevertheless, I strongly recommend it.

I’m honestly shocked to see that anyone gave this book less than 4 stars. While it may not be a perfectly written novel, it is very well written for it being her first. The story moved quickly, was heart-wrenching, and told a achingly beautiful story of two people who fell in love in the ultimate unlikeliest place.

Aside from just the writing, the story itself was very engaging. I was able to picture what Lale looked like, how he spoke, how he carried himself, his facial expressions.
