What Members Thought

The story itself is absolutely incredible, fascinating, inspirational and beautiful.... The writing and character development is what I really didn't like about this book... It has so much potential... Why ruin it with mediocre story telling... What a shame

The Tattooist of Auschwitz is a fictionalized but true and very important story but it is hard to read (or in my case, listen to) because it is a gritty portrayal of a situation that is in many ways beyond words. Morris does a good job translating the story into something palatable and of course, critically important for everyone to read and remember, but it is not an easy book to read. The story moved quickly, was heart-wrenching, and told a achingly beautiful story of two people who fell in love in the ultimate unlikeliest place.
Aside from just the writing, the story itself was very engaging. I was able to picture what Lale looked like, how he spoke, how he carried himself, his facial expressions.
