The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger is the beautiful story of librarian Henry De Tamble and his soul mate Clare Abshire. Henry suffers from chrono displacement disorder, a genetic mutation that causes him to leap frog back and forth in time. The book is written in the alternating viewpoints of Henry and Clare, from their first meeting in the meadow near Clare's childhood home (Clare is just 6 years old, while Henry is 36,) through all their experiences in "real time" as adults.

This was a good book, but I had a hard time believing the love. It was weird how their love developed. It had a chicken/egg scenario. A major theme in this book was that time is set it stone. It's all already happened, all of your decisions have already been made, so the future is set in stone. . . I wasn't crazy about that.

This is actually an amazing book. I certainly wasn't expecting that. Often when people praise a book (or anything) that much, it's not very good at all, at least in my opinion (example: Titanic). But this was actually REALLY good, especially for a first novel.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It's very original and put together intelligently. Though I'm not particularly interested in time travel, I find the story absorbing and beautiful. Heart-breaking and incredibly romantic at the same time.
