What's that phrase- this book gave me the feels. Picked it up because of course everybody has read it by now and it's going to be turned into a movie, and I started it on the plane ride up to Seattle. One minute I'm crying and the next minute I'm LOL, and I just wanted to tell the person sitting next to me on the plane "This book is so good!" by way of explanation. There are some beautiful lines that I would have highlighted if I had been reading this on Kindle about love and death and life and ...more

When I first finished this book, I did g really have strong feelings one way or another. I just didn’t care about the characters at all. After discussing the book at a book club meeting, however, my thoughts changed. After that I really disliked some of the choices that the author made. I know this book is beloved, but for me it missed the mark.

I first thought this would be a 4/5 but I could not get the writer, the language, the characters, the story OUT of my mind [in a good way]. I love literary experiences like that. I listened to this book. Now I want to read it to savor the words. This is my first book by this author. Who thought a book with a grumpy old man would be *such* a treat! Bravo! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I loved this book. Finding your own value, not through someone else, is always such a thrill. Finding you are needed, even when you have no one, makes life worth living.
