"She made a mistake. It happens. We are none of us perfect."
What a twisted roller coaster ride. Just when I knew what happened, I switched it. And then the twist at the end was even bigger. This was a great challenge and a quick read as I flipped through the three tales of three different women. Their lives were similar in ways, different in others and all overlapped in a most unfortunate way. ...more

Paula Hawkins' debut novel The Girl on the Train is THE book that everyone is talking about these days. And with good reason.
The novel is a compulsively readable psychological thriller that gives us shifting narrative view points from three different -- and completely unreliable -- narrators. Rachel, Anna and Megan each have pieces of the puzzle as to what happened when, well, that might be giving away too much. Each of these women's lives has multiple points of intersection and watching as Hawk ...more

This book wasn't at all what I had imagined. I imagined a woman going to work every morning and becoming accustomed to seeing the same houses and the people who lived there. Then I though she had witnessed a murder or something really bad take place. What happened though was Rachel was just a hot mess. About halfway though I did start liking her and started feeling sympathetic to her situation. At about that time Anna was the one I hated. I figured out what was happening in Rachel's blackouts be

Better Than Gone Girl
I don't usually go for the "must read" books. But this one intrigued me. Had seen it compared to Gone Girl and since I enjoyed the constant twisting and the unreliability of all the narrator's (even though I disliked the ending), I decided to give The Girl on the Train a go.
I absolutely despised every single character in this book. They were all repulsive and morally repugnant. Not one single redeeming quality amongst them. And yet I couldn't put this book down. I HAD to kn ...more

I'm certain at some point the author considered titling this "Train Wreck", which would have been more apropos. All I can say is the raters warned me, with cautionary notes that the characters were all rotten people, though I'm surprised more people haven't complained about how misogynistic it was - both male and female characters were exaggerated caricature versions of the genders; none having any kind of psychological sophistication. The writing and the composition of the storyline to the unra

What an amazingly fun novel! I loved all of the twists and turns, especially with all of the unreliable narrators. It just kept me guessing until the end. Also, there really isn't a single character with redeeming qualities, which is interesting. No "shining hero" that I was rooting for. I thought that each of the characters were very well written and had their own distinct voice, attitude, and behavior. I could actually imagining running into them in real life. It was just a crazy plot line wit

Very suspenseful. A little depressing. You just never know what is really going on in another person's life. They could look like their life is perfect but it very rarely is.
