What Members Thought

I was torn between three and four stars for this haunting literary novel. I hesitate to describe it as fiction because so many parts of it seemed nearer to potential reality; and as an alternate reality, the tone of the presentation contrasts in a disturbing manner of acceptance. Four stars here finally because it will not be easy to forget and shouldn’t be.

How can a book be both gloriously illuminating and devastatingly tragic at the same time?
Leave the plot to Ishiguro and this feat will be accomplished.
It took me a bit to get into the story, but once I did I was ensnared.
The disturbing part is that I can imagine a future where the questions raised by the book will need to be explored.
The power of love and the possibilities of the power of love are both at play in this book.
