Well, now I can say I read this book. I have to be frank....the writing is fantastic....I have to be frank again....this book pissed me off.....3/4s of it was set up, set up, set up....investigation by the police, questions...background...and I was thinking...C'MON!!!!!! Get on with the story already! I was getting bored with the set up....then the last 1/4 of it...it got damn interesting....long before it was over, I figured out part of the ending, and the other part was MY HOPE on how it was g

This book… another one, of which I unfortunately saw the movie a few years ago before reading the book now.
4.3 Stars from me, but I had to round it down since Goodreads still hasn't given us the Half Star rating option.
Up until page 400 or 450(?) I was about to make this a huge DNF, but something deep inside of me said, go on Girl! Read…!

Let me begin by saying, "Amy Elliott Dunne, you crazy B*tch, you!"
Rosamund Pike did a great job in the movie, I pictured her while reading the book.

Audiobook Notes at the end.
I don't know about this book, I didn't love it. But I rarely love any book that follows a ton of hype. I should really learn to stay away from them. :)
I've always admired authors who write mystery thrillers. Fitting in all the little details that someone will catch on to if they're reading closely, but they're likely to miss until they all add up in the end. Flynn is a master of this. There are so many small mysteries within the larger mystery and the book is very well ...more

I'm not even sure where to begin with my thoughts. I've been participating in a Q&A on this, a "answer questions as you read" kind of thing. My feelings for the people in this book have been all over the place. It's so hard to really review this book without giving things away. I admit I was sucked into the suspense, the drama, the wondering how much of what I was reading was true (it's written by two very opposing perspectives and I really liked that aspect). I've read so many "I hated the endi

The first third of this book, I wasn't sure I was going to finish it and I was wondering what all the hype was and why it has been on the best seller list forever as I was getting frustrated by the alternate chapter changes from present time with the husband and then past with the wife who is missing (I typically find that sort of construction contrived). Then, I got to section 2 and it became very interesting and the construction started making sense for me. By the end, I was reading with my mo

I know that I am VERY far behind the hype for this book. People have been recommending it to me forever now, and I just got around to checking it out this year. In fact I didn’t finish it very long ago in fact.
This is an amazing book that pulled me in instantly and with every twist i was pulled in further. It is the story of and unhappy wife who goes missing and the super shady, suspicious husband she leaves behind….and then its not. I can barely talk about this book because i think you should r ...more

I REALLY wanted to give this book 4 stars, until the end. I enjoyed the rest of the book, and found it to be a page-turner. The wait for the end nearly drove me nuts! And then when it was over, I felt let down. I'd still recommend it, and will not rule Flynn out as a good author.

The most engaging time I've had with a book in a long time. The psychological scope presented still has me reeling and headed for something lighter to read until I recover.
