This book… another one, of which I unfortunately saw the movie a few years ago before reading the book now.

4.3 Stars from me, but I had to round it down since Goodreads still hasn't given us the Half Star rating option.

Up until page 400 or 450(?) I was about to make this a huge DNF, but something deep inside of me said, go on Girl! Read…!

I don't know about this book, I didn't love it. But I rarely love any book that follows a ton of hype. I should really learn to stay away from them. :)

I've always admired authors who write mystery thrillers. Fitting in all the little details that someone will catch on to if they're reading closely, but they're likely to miss until they all add up in the end. Flynn is a master of this. The first third of this book, I wasn't sure I was going to finish it and I was wondering what all the hype was and why it has been on the best seller list forever as I was getting frustrated by the alternate chapter changes from present time with the husband and then past with the wife who is missing (I typically find that sort of construction contrived). I know that I am VERY far behind the hype for this book. People have been recommending it to me forever now, and I just got around to checking it out this year. In fact I didn’t finish it very long ago in fact.

I got to say it was a pretty good writing. The author really made me not like any of the characters in the book. It took me a while to get into the story and then I just wanted to finish to find out what happened. Can't say I was disappointed but I wouldn't say I was very happy with the end.
