This book is an excellent book taken from the perspective of a child that is African American, specifically speaking of a darker shade of skin. The main character is struggling to love the skin that she's in because of the negative commentary she experiences as well as seeing how others who are of a lighter shade experience better treatment. The main character learns to love herself no matter how different she may be compared to others. This book is great for teachers to teach about diversity. C
