[close] Too Many Tamales by Gary Soto was a book I really enjoyed reading. It not only emphasizes the hispanic culture, but it gives off a lesson as well. Too Many Tamales is about a young latina who is helping her mother make tamales. In the process of doing so she tries on her mothers wedding ring and ends up losing it in the batch of tamales! Her and her cousins help her try to figure out where in the world her mother's ring is. By the end of the book, it gives off a listen of honesty. The young lady was getting ready to be honest with her mother and tell her what happened. It not only gives us a lesson but also touches some spanish traditions! Growing up in a hispanic household, making tamales with your family, having family come over, greeting hispanic families with kisses on the cheek, and of course the yummy traditional Mexican dish of tamales!
