"What If...." by Samantha Berger won the ILA Children’s Choices Reading List Award in 2018. This Book captures the excitement of self-discovery through creativity. The fun and colorful illustrations by Mike Curato perfectly goes with Samantha Berger's words. Imagination is the main focus on these pages. I think this book brings out the creative spirit of a child because only children can find the truth that defies age, race, gender, and ethnic background through drawing and painting.

This book Shows children that there are endless possibilities to express ones self. The book uses beautiful imagery and can be a useful tool in learning within the classroom. Children may often feel they don't have the tools to express themselves and this book can show them that they don't need much. Children can learn to use any means of self-expression to show the world who they are and allow their voice to be hear.
