I was initially drawn to this story because of the beautiful artwork, but I came to love it even more after reading it a few times. This book helps represent Asian culture through the illustrations the topic of the story. I love this book. It makes a great science lesson for the different phases of the moon by telling an adorable story about Little Star nibbling the moon cake throughout a series of nights eating the entire moon. This book connects a mother/daughter bond, connects phases of the moon, and celebrates the Asian culture by using a mooncake that is celebrated during the fall festival. It has large print and illustrations with few words so it is good for children who may be using the pictures to read.
