[close] This book is about the grandparents of a young girl. The author describes both her maternal and paternal grandparents with rhyme and beautiful illustrations. The book uses many similes for comparisons of the different relatives in her family tree. I feel this book will be interesting for early readers but some of the words used will need some explanation. It would be informative to find the children’s reader factors to conduct a picture walk of the book before reading. This book was recommended by the librarian at the school I work.

This book could be used with early readers with a lesson of creating family trees. The children could include their families with this activity to help create a classroom family tree. Using the information create a family tree for each child then have them tell their family tree. The children could compare how diverse and some similarities within their families. This will help with diversity understanding and incorporate strengths of the students in the classroom.
