A full 5 out of 5 and an absolute must read for all Australians, especially if you are white.

Pascoe is a meticulous and passionate historian. He uses primary sources, including explorer's diaries, to prove that the Aboriginal history we have always been fed by what was a racist government and the single-minded invading settler is untrue.

Dark Emu is a non-fiction book written by Bruce Pascoe which seeks to disprove the hunger/gatherer theory of Aboriginals which is so embedded into Australian society. It was interesting and engaging, from the chapter in agriculture to housing to pottery. I am ashamed that I had no idea about a lot of these things, however, happy that I have an opportunity to learn. This book has totally transformed by view and knowledge on pre-colonial Aboriginals.
