As a companion novel to Wildwood Dancing I loved how it took place in a different setting from Transylvania, and allowed another character to be explored. The focus of this book in Paula, and it takes place in Istanbul. There were some parts of me that were uncomfortable with how the Muslim customs had to be portrayed in the book (as someone raised in a Muslim family, but used to friends thinking it's close-minded and agreeing with them for the most part) but Marillier didn't lean on it too hea

This book was positively amazing. I cannot stop thinking about it and how beautiful and exciting the story was. Randomly throughout the day, I find myself recalling the lovely romance and sighing happily. I loved Paula, and all of the characters. I loved the plot, conflict, and pretty much everything about this book.
I've seen some disagreement over which guy Paula should have chosen, and I'm eager to join in and give my opinion. I think both guys were pretty neat, but I'm glad that she chose the ...more
