I read this one immediately after finishing the first book and I admit I had to take a break about 1/3 of the way through. Like the first book, Heir starts out very dark (lots of rape, child sexual assault albeit none of it done via first-person or very graphically). I found the darkness rather oppressive and needed to take a break.

OMG! I need Queen of the Darkness! I want more of Daemon! This book was wonderful but it didn't have enough of him. Although I did enjoy getting to know Lucivar more, and I just love Saetan, he makes me laugh. And Jaenelle is epic in this one.

There is not as much sexual violence in this book as the last one but this are some very sad parts and there are still a lot of characters to keep track of. The story itself is extremely interesting and pulls you in.
