So this was a hard book to stomach through, but I was determined to finish it. I just didn't enjoy the story. It's based on a Spartan Priestess who becomes enslaved and forced to become a Gladiatrix. Because of her history, she is already a great fighter, very knowledgeable, and therefore absurdly arrogant. There is very little change in her character throughout the book.
