A Man Called Ove in Bangalore Open Library

Ove is a man in his late 50's who sees life and the world in black and white. And I think he's the most relatable character ever. He drives a Saab. We say not to judge a book by its cover. But Ove can tell a lot about a person by just knowing what kind of a Car the said person drives. He takes sign boards very seriously and tries to bring order in his residential area by calling out someone who doesn't follow the rules (a bit harshly but hilariously).

We all have an Ove in our life. EVERYONE.

Ove might remind you of your grandfather who abhors the latest technology and mutters about how it's ruining the quality of life and how kids these days never go outside to play instead stays glued to their tiny screen. Pretends they're not interested but if a 6-year-old shows them how to play Fruit Ninja... well, then you know where to find them from that day on. (Well, that's enough about my personal experiences.)
Ove might remind you of a neighbor you had or have, who refuses to give back the ball you hit right into their front yard while the game gets intense. The same person who comes dashing through their door with a first aid kit when one of you is hurt, cursing under his breath about your whining and how careless kids are while playing.
Ove might as well resemble your dad who says he doesn't want a pet, stays silent the whole way to the pet store, tries to back you out while you're there by pointing out how he'll not help if the pet makes a mess inside the house, but once you get a pet he starts petting them and loving them with affection he never even showed you. *HahaNotKiddingHaha*
I think that pretty much sums up who Ove is.

Ove loses his wife and realizes that there is no one else in this world who’ll understand him and his ways as she did. So he decides to end his life. Until one day a pregnant woman and her lanky husband drive their trailer right into Ove's letterbox. From then on you’ll see how this curmudgeon’s life changes. This book will make you laugh out loud, think of people you love, and also make you cry. Not in a bad way but in an “Oh! This is so wholesome. My heart can’t contain all this at once” way. This is one of those books that you can reread when you want to feel good and even after years fills you with a warm feeling. Or maybe it’s just me because while reading this book, I felt really close to the Ove of my life who lives miles and miles away and is 90 years old. ...more
