What Members Thought

Most awe inspiring thing about this book is how familiar it was, not in words but in the meaning behind them.
It felt like something that I have been swimming in my whole life but never realised. It also made me realise how much of what we think and feel is already out these on someone's pages , written over a century ago.
In this book Khalil Gibran did what he does best, wrote about the simple things of life which are ultimately the most important.
My favorite quotes from the book are:
-"Look deep ...more

Before picking this up, I read somewhere about how this was a product of its time and I think I agree now. It just sounded like drivel for the most part, at least 80% of it. Honestly, it felt like the kind of stuff promulgated to keep the masses in line. Things like, keep working hard, finding joy in pain, etc. It just doesn't feel right to be preaching stuff like this to someone anymore, for some reason.

Books fall into several categories, ones you love, ones that you hate, inspiring ones, few which makes you think, those which gives you knowledge. And this little one is a book that you would like to read again. A book which you like to pack for a trip. A book which is light to read, yet emanates words of a profound philosopher.

Masterful book that talks about life and human condition. This one came recommended to me by Colleague during our conversations and I really enjoyed this from start to end. There is also an animation movie with the same name, which though is quite ok, helps to understand the core characters and the narratives in this book.
