First let me say that I'm trying to write this review with my almost 4 year old son sitting with me and asking me to type "lollipop" so forgive me if this makes no sense whatsoever.

I have to say I read this book somewhat reluctantly. My sister loaned it to me saying how great it was but I just didn't find myself in the mood to read it. We see how war, directly and indirectly, impacted on each of these women's lives. Mostly, this book is beautiful in its descriptive language, not only ...more

This is a great example of 'Literary Fiction'. It's not suspense, adventure, romance, historical fiction...but has all those elements combined in a beautifully written story. I enjoyed the texture, teh words, the tension, the emotions...all of it. ...more
