I have a vast fondness for prickly female characters so Agatha was right up my alley. This was a very quick read and it kept me entertained the whole time. I just had to see what scrapes Agatha was going to get herself into next. As a cozy mystery of course the most horrifying and realistic scrape was the handsome neighbor showing up while Agatha was on the floor with the kitten and her legs unshaved. I like my cozies so be not so sweet as a lot of them are so I really enjoyed this one.

This is a clever take on the cozy mystery genre, about a woman who moves out to a nice pretty little village and gets embroiled in a murder. The thing that sets her apart from most cozy mystery protagonists is that she's an unpleasant and most unlikeable (especially at the start) person with no friends who's rude to everyone and doesn't know what to do with herself now that she's retired.
