I was a bit late to the party on this series, I know it wrapped up back in, like, 2014. And I'd heard of it for sure, I remember when this started exploding in the book blogosphere and all the praise it was getting. But, I don't know, I didn't feel hooked by the premise. I mean, sure, it sounded interesting, but there was so much more that interested me a lot more. Until now. Shadow and Bone was yet another pick from the list of YA books recommended for Game Of Thrones fans and I finally decided

This was definitely a case of me choosing a book by the cover (which I think is gorgeous) and I was pleasantly surprised. It took me a little while to get into the story, but as it went on and Alina came into her powers, I started to get interested. The ending was a little abrupt, but then, there were always going to be more books to come.
Alina Starkov grew up in an orphanage with her best friend Mal Oretsev. The two have joined the army and they are sent on a transport across the Unsea, a pitch black barren area full of creatures called Volcras. I really like this book, although it took me a few chapters to get into it.

I didn't like the ending, I imagined it differently. But it was fine, I suppouse.
SPOILER ALERT
"The Darkling. Oh. My. God. He's too hot. He's so sexy. He is the sexiest guy in all of the literary world. By far. His darkness was just alluring, his mystery just breath taking. His manly manliness was just... MANLY. And as a added bonus: he is a very strong character, in a way thatall he's trying to do is save his kingdom, no matter what the cost. "
Somebody said that and I totally agree with her. Cer ...more
