Capote set out to write a "non-fiction novel," and I think he succeeded fairly well at that. It certainly didn't pull me in and keep me mesmerized in the way I expect from good fiction. But, on the other hand, it flowed better and was more interesting to read than a straight newspaper-style reporting of the events would have been.

Truman Capote writes of the case of the 1959 murders of Herbet Clutter and his family. His prose is wonderful, especially in the description of event s that lead up to the deaths. His portrayal of the murderers is not necessarily of 2 ruthless men,in fact the level of malaevolence in their depiction is quite low
