This is a great story for teens & adults. I had to read it in one sitting.

I must admit that I’ve heard a lot about these books even before the movie came out but I keep putting off reading it. Then the movie came out which I saw last weekend. For a movie with a full Australian cast and was shot in Australia, I didn’t have high hopes but it greatly exceeded my expectations (and well worth the $9 I paid for) and I ended up really enjoying it. I didn't realise that I had stumbled onto a cult classic when I found this on a relative's bookshelf. It definitely has an Aussie flavour, and at times the YA stuff intrudes into the story too much for me, but otherwise a mostly believable yarn about some kids who find strengths they didn't know they had when faced with threats to their families and their whole way of life in the guise of an unexpected war. ...more

What would happen if you left for a camping trip and you came back to find that life as you knew it did not exist anymore. Well, that is the premise of this book. I really enjoyed the storyline and found I was strangely intrigued about what was going to happen next. I have to say, I did find it a bit unbelievable, but highly entertaining.
