I believe this is the book that Lehane is famous for, although I have read ALL of Lehane's books and they are equally as good.
This is a story of friendship, betrayal and misunderstanding.
I might also add, the movie stays very close to the book.
The setting is Boston, Massachusetts and the story is about 3 friends who share a moment when they are kids that changes their lives forever. ...more

I really enjoyed this novel. The mystery, the characters, the twisted relationships. What a great story! I will definitely be looking into more of Dennis Lehane's work.

This book might be the best mystery I've read. Now, the field isn't that deep as I don't read many mysteries. But the book managed to keep a plot-driven pacing while deeply exploring the inner lives of the three main characters and creating full, rich side characters. As a refreshing sidenote, the women in this book aren't all nimrods.
