What Members Thought

Sue Grafton is amazingly keeping this series at a level of excellence in this her 22nd novel of the Kinsey Millhone thrillers. The story had great rhythm, moving the story along without any lag. The characters were exciting and well-developed, new ones and old ones. The different characters' storylines came together beautifully. The only complaint I have is that Henry is away looking after his 99-yr-old sister for the duration of the book. A very satisfying read.

A great Kinsey Millhone mystery again! Some of the characters in this one didn't fall neatly into the categories of villains, victims, or friends of Kinsey's. That made the plot more interesting, and the outcome of the story less predictable. The method she tried out in the last book, of hopping around from Kinsey's first-person viewpoint to a third-person looking in on other characters, was effective here, too, though at first I was a bit confused about who was who, and I missed clues about how

I was scratching my head for a while, trying to figure out how all these various threads were going to come together. I had faith they would, and they did, a nice complex web elegantly played out. I love Kinsey Millhone! I'm a little sad Sue Grafton is getting close to the end of the alphabet, but I guess I've got another 5-8 years before "Z."

I can't believe that this author wrote a book for every letter of the alphabet. And I have to start at "V"?

I really love listening to these on audio. I didn't get the story told in the first chapter for quite a while, but it was interesting how all of the stories told in varying perspectives came together. I also loved the open-ended conclusion. Can't wait for "W"!

I used to gobble these up but for some reason didn't get around to this one for a while. I saw the blurb for "X" and it was intriguing so I wanted to catch up. "V" was very hit or miss for me. I found the last half much better than the first, as they mystery seemed to take a while to find its legs. I did enjoy the different POV chapters, sometimes more than the Kinsey chapters. Anyway, I have one more to catch up on before X releases in August.
