The story of David Balfour who is kidnapped by sailors and the adventures that arise. I found part of the story dragged, especially when David starts traveling around the countryside.

I was a little disappointed, I had expected something more. I'm not really sure why, but I found it a bit flat - maybe episodic rather than suspenseful I think. ...more

An exciting book, and completely different from what I expected. The main characters were complex and while flawed, had their own senses of honour.

The only issue I had was that it did end on a very sudden note.

This is a great adventure story written as the autobiography of David Balfour following the death of his parents and his 'adventures' on and off the Covenant. Once again Stevenson shows his prowess and skill at weaving a great story with good characters that grips you from start to finish. This is certainly a story aimed at young adults, boys in particular with all of the traditional boy based fun of ships, guns, desert islands etc. A traditionally joyful read. ...more
