What Members Thought
I expected more from this book, maybe because The Giver is one of my all time favorites. But I'm sad that the last couple of books haven't met up with my expectations. This book really had a lot of promise. But there was a major question that was only vaguely answered and was magically solved without a satisfactory explanation as to what had been going on before. Lois Lowry writes short books that have an impact out of all proportion to their length. In this one, I loved following the character Matty as he tried to figure out what his gift was and what he should do with it. I wasn't too happy reading some of the scenes in the forest, and I had to just suspend disbelief about what happened there. But the overall story was compelling enough that I was ok with that.

I quite enjoyed this book, and the series so far. I look forward to the next book, which is apparently coming out this year!
