This was basically a dialogue-intensive procedural, and not exactly crackling dialogue either, so I found myself doing a lot of "Oh god, someone else is talking now—make him stop!" There were some interesting ideas here, and I liked/respected that Scalzi wrote without (view spoiler) but I just wasn't gripped by the story. ...more
