Ned Henry is sent back in time to Victorian England to correct an incongruity, which one of his fellow historians has caused by bringing back a cat and altering the course of history. Or has she? Incongruity upon incongruity follow, as Ned makes matters worse by going off on the river with a student who should have met the love of his life at the station, and causing him to become engaged to somebody else.

Connie Willis' To Say Nothing of the Dog is a much loved book with a total of 837 people on Good reads declaring it either a favorite, favourite or all time favorite. I had been hearing raves about it forever and several years ago put it on my tbr. I finally decided that now was as good of time as any to read it and I am glad I did.

Shelves: scifi, to-reread

A delightful romp. I picked this up without having read the first one but it wasn't hard to get a feel for what was going on. A romantic comedy-of-errors set in the 19th century, with a healthy dose of sci-fi backing for good fun. Funny and clever, with a solid plot and a great set of characters. This would make a fantastic movie, and I'm genuinely surprised it hasn't happened yet. ...more
