I had very high hopes for this book given the reviews it has received and the era in which it was set but sadly it didn't deliver. Although the characters were well thought out and came across relatively true to their historical counterparts I was disappointed with the lack of character development through the book and the lack of storyline. It was as if Mantel wanted the characters to carry the story which would've worked really well but the characters were quite flat and at times it was diffic

I really enjoyed this - 4.5 stars. It took a little getting used to her writing style and I thought it slowed down too much at the end, but very much looking forward to reading the next one.

I did not like this book at all. It was slow-paced and quite boring considering the overall plot. I give it a D+.
I struggled through this book, like the story, but it really was hard to read... just my opinion....
