An excellent debut, compelling reading if a little long & convoluted at times. Journalist Martin Scarsden is out in the searing heat of the scrub to do a follow-up piece on Riversend 12 months after a shocking mass shooting in the town, a simple enough task if taken at face value - how is the town & its population coping. So glad I finally read this book! It's one of those good reads that you kinda kick yourself for taking so long to actually pick up & read. Even if it looks such a big tome, the print is that big & the story so smooth that it really didn't feel that long a read after all.
