It only took me about a week to read this book...sigh...it always happens to me with this series that when I'm done, I always want to continue onto the next book.
I didn't find the end as cliffhangerish as I thought it would be from others' reviews but then, I have the luxury of having the next book in the series. :)

Well, Diana Gabaldon wasn't kidding when she said, "A word about the ending...I did say, did I not, "Nobody's going to hit the end of _this_ book, and think it's the last one?" The last 100 pages were so full of surprises and loose ends that I was breathless at the end. There were several times when I said to myself, "I sure didn't see that one coming." I loved the book, but I am going to be one cranky reader if I have to wait 5 years for the answers to all of the questions I have.

This book took me longer than usual because it had an alarming tendancy to put me to sleep while reading it. I don't like the Lord John bits, have never got into that series, and he is a key character in this one. Finally made it to the end, (and if you are wearying, plough on, the last 250 pages are actually better) and ...it just finishes. So many loose ends that it obviously isn't the last one in the series, either. This series started off with a lot of promise, but it seems to have lost its

Is this a good book? Yes. A great book? Yes, but it's got flaws. It's slow getting started. Really improbable in certain major plot threads. As noted by other reviewers, the author introduces plot lines and doesn't resolve them by the book's end. Her editor seems to have gone to sleep in certain places.
Why did I give this book five stars if I'm so critical of it? Because it's spellbinding. I couldn't put it down. I read the whole thing nonstop and then read the last 100 pages again. I could not ...more

I wanted more Jamie & Claire and less William.

I'm a huge fan of the Outlander series so I was really pleased to get this as a Christmas present. I know, I know, why am I just getting round to it now? ... I don't have a good answer except maybe I'm easily distracted. The story follows several different plot lines, including a John/William section, Jamie/Claire and a present day Brianna/Roger. I have read one of the Lord John books so this character was fairly familiar to me as well. I particularly enjoyed the parts with Ian and would love to

I have loved this series since I read the first one over a decade ago. My only problem is that, since it has been a few years since I read the last one, I find myself trying to remember what happened before! This one ended on a cliff-hanger so I hope it isn't another three years before the next on is available! Again, I have been continuing to listen to this series with the audio book that I downloaded from the library.
