I read this just at the end of Dec 2021.
It was an easy read for me and quite enjoyable with a feel good, positive energy about it even at the sad points in the story.

I’ll admit that I wasn’t expecting much from this book, mostly because this isn’t the type of thing I usually read. I’ve avoided books with similar themes in the past because many of them seem to be, for lack of a better term, emotionally manipulative. There are certain settings in history that I find are often used as an easy way to evoke emotion. I’m not saying that’s necessarily a bad thing, but it does annoy me when it appears to be a cheap way to add depth to a novel.
