Often I'll find that a book will take me a while to get into, but once I really know the characters, I become absorbed. This book was the opposite: I was drawn in immediately, but gradually over the course of the book I found myself getting bored. The premise was a good one, and the characters were interesting. But the book began to seem rather repetitive, as though the author had already said everything she had to say.

I wanted to like this book as well. The Lifetime movie was so good and I loved it. I found the book pace slow and irritating. I wanted to throw the doctor/father out the window and I can't believe how ignorant they were about Down Syndrome. I teach in the Special Education field and many of the children I interact with have Down's Syndrome. The only ray of hope was Paul as an adult accepting Phoebe for who she was and wanted to get to know her. I would suggest not bothering to read the book and

Got a bit sick of the non-communication and wondered if I had missed the point. Was intrigued by the complete deceit but realised it could only happen due to Norah's self-centredness . The son knew but seemed to be written out of that line.

I loved this book , it intrigued me and tugged at the strings of my heart. Every page I read I absorbed , because every word I read told the power of choices and the eternal bond between a mother and daughter. I am not sure really how to explain how great this book was. I guess I am wordless , for now.
