This book is amazing... beginning can be a little rough to get through, but after that, it is amazing. Harry Potter helped get me through High School. Seriously, one of the best books ever!!!

It may have taken me 18 years to finally sit down and read Harry Potter, but it was worth the wait. I really enjoyed this, but I was not in love with it as I thought I would be. It was a fun ride and I appriciated the extra details (absent in the movie), especially the beginning of the novel. I think the scenes were of his living condition and his family were much more apalling in my mind (compared to the movie). I am not sure if watching the movie first affected my response to the novel, but I found that I enjoyed the parts of the book that I liked in the movie. I look forward to reading more ...more

This is written clearly for children, but there is enough intrigue and character development to entertain an adult. This is a simple story of a young orphan who finds out that he has wizard parentage and goes off to wizard school. This is his first year at the boarding school and th
