Angie Thomas is doing a service to middle age white women like me, to try to help us understand a narrative that we have no way to experience from our perch of white privilege. But beautiful writing, detail, plot, and character is good for all readers to understand any story and life circumstance. Angie Thomas most certainly did not write her book for me. We can all understand how tempting it would be to have real Timberland's vs. Fake, but how we don't want to value that, over our family's real

I thought the story flowed really well. I read the book practically in one sitting and I rarely do that. It had a good message about knowing one's self worth.
