What Members Thought
While I believe this is an extremely important book in that it brought the "lost boys" of Sudan to the attention of untold readers, I struggled with the "autobiographical fiction" thing. Why fiction? Why not investigative journalism? I do believe Eggers could have been up to that task.

I'm struggling. In many ways this is an important story and one that needs to be told - unfortunately the story-telling is so plodding that I'm not sure how long I want to hear it.

A friend of mine gave me this book as a christmas gift and because she also felt like everyone should read it. And now I found myself highly recommending it to everyone!!! A real eye-opener!
Valentino is the main character, who survived almost 15 years of civil war and refugee-camp exile before coming to the USA in 2001. It’s a story about the horrors of genocide and life as a refugee, on the run.

This was a very interesting story about the "Lost Boys" of the Sudan.
