What Members Thought

I would usually enjoy WWII related historical fiction especially when they feature strong resilient courageous women. I love celebrating their prowess & achievements -especially noting that usually there is a real historical figure that inspired these type of novels. I'm afraid I didn't particularly enjoy this novel; I seemed to have mostly have to drag myself through this reading.

Extreme roller coaster of emotions reading this. I couldn't put it down and read it over 2 days of vacation. Very well written and kept a great pace for a difficult subject. All the main characters were really given a true voice.

This book is based on real events, the three Lilac Girls having counterparts in history. They are from very different backgrounds, but their paths cross in the turmoil that was the Nazi occupation of Poland, and in Ravensbruck, a camp for women only.
